This year's chestnuts

Every year, at this time, the chestnuts at the university start to fall.  I love them, I love the colour of them, the shape and size in your hand.  They are brown and burnished smooth, and I find them deeply satisfying.  I usually pick up a handful and have them on my desk during the winter: some autumn colour through the dreek Dunedin grey.
